Meet Jackie
"THERE IS BEAUTY IN THE BROKEN"
This picture is a perfect example of my personal and professional philosophy of the counselling process – a process towards healing, rebuilding, and creative possibility. It is hard to imagine being able to find beauty in a situation that leaves you feeling broken, overwhelmed, stressed, lost, or alone. Such feelings are often debilitating. The beauty comes through the healing process. When we begin to repair what we perceived as broken we can create something more beautiful, stronger, and more resilient than before. You have everything inside you that you need to do so. I would be honoured to help you discover these inherent strengths and stand beside you on your journey towards healing and thriving.

Professional life
I hold both a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology/Biology and Master of Science degree in Biopsychology from Memorial University of Newfoundland, as well as a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.
I am a member of the Canadian Counsellors and Psychotherapy Association of Canada (CCPA), and practice as a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC). I am also a member of the Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists of Canada (ANNC). I have experience in a broad range of community mental health counselling, including issues such as anxiety, depression, domestic abuse, grief and loss, life transitions, rebuilding after separation and divorce, self-empowerment, interpersonal communication, building healthier self-esteem, spiritual growth, and overall improved well-being. I have post-graduate training and I am especially passionate about supporting clients through grief and loss (i.e. relationship loss and stress, bereavement, job loss etc).
My approach is client-centered, trauma informed, strength-based and grounded in best research practices and ethical standards. I believe in meeting people where they are and walking along side on their journey towards growth and healing. I incorporate elements of cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, and spiritually aligned interventions that are tailored to the unique needs of each individual’s situation. I work with clients to develop realistic goals and develop a plan for achieving these goals.
I am very passionate about personal growth, healing, and well-being. I desire to help clients become aware of their inner strength and wisdom, and to use such strengths to address life’s challenges and live their best life. As such, I am dedicated to creating a warm, safe, and trusting environment where we can work together to create a respectful therapeutic relationship – the key to successful therapy outcomes.

Personal life
I am a mom to a beautiful daughter who inspires me everyday to be the best version of myself! I am also a mom to a loveable golden retriever and a goofy cat who helps me find joy and laughter in the most stressful moments. When I have time to myself, I love being in nature, especially near the ocean. Having grown up in a small coastal community, I find peace and comfort being near water. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family, love visiting new places, meeting new people. and learning from others.
Counselling has enabled me to take the best of me - my kind-hearted nature, my compassion for others, my non-judgemental and open-minded perspectives, my genuineness, and my desire to see others live their best lives - and use these qualities in a way that is helpful to others. I feel very blessed!
Therapy is about teamwork - you are the expert of your life. I am honoured to walk with you on your journey to wellness.
